United Airlines is showing flights from Calgary to Kailua Kona, Hawaii (aka the Big Island) in the fall for $388 CAD roundtrip including taxes.
The flights have 1 stop in San Francisco each way.
The Big Island went through some pretty Big changes in 2018, thanks to the Kilauea volcano. This L.A. Times article from earlier this year has some info on what has changed with the island.
It's pretty easy to find an Airbnb on Kona with great reviews for $100-$150 CAD per night. There are a ton.
Update 6/26 - Westjet has now dropped the price of their flights from Calgary to Kona, Hawaii down to $379 CAD roundtrip for travel in December 2019 and January, early February 2020. See update below.
Update 10/6 - United Airlines is showing a few flights in October 2019 for $396 CAD roundtrip.
