You can also fly into Hanoi (Northern Vietnam), and then fly home from Ho Chi Minh City (Southern Vietnam), for a similar price (see below).
UPDATE - These have sold out, at least for this price. You can still find some flights in the $700s but the layovers are a lot longer. Some flights with good layovers are still available in the $800s. Sep 20 to Oct 17 and Oct 11-24 from Calgary to Hanoi is available for $769 roundtrip with good layovers.
